The challenge

Collections were recorded on paper and re-keyed later, so the books and reality drifted apart every month.

Our approach

We built an offline-first mobile app on top of a double-entry ledger, with idempotent postings and automated reconciliation.

Chapter 01

The ledger was the product

Before a single screen, we built the money layer as an idempotent double-entry ledger with immutable postings and an explicit account per purpose.

Every collection, fee and reversal became two balanced entries, so a balance can always explain itself.

Chapter 02

An app that assumes the network will fail

Officers work in places with one bar of signal. The app records a receipt locally, signs it, and syncs when it can, with conflict rules the ledger can verify.

Nobody has to remember what happened on the road.

Outcomes

What actually changed.

ReconciliationManual, monthlyContinuousAssertion runs on every posting

CorrectionsEdited rowsNew postingsHistory is never rewritten
  • Paper receipts replaced with signed digital ones
  • Reconciliation runs continuously, not monthly
  • Corrections recorded as postings, never edits
